Welcome to “Design for Emotion”

On behalf of co-author Edie Adams and myself, we’d like to welcome you to the site! We’re writing a book with the fine folks at Morgan Kaufmann Publishers and we’d like you to be a part of it.

“Design for Emotion” is a guide to understanding and applying the concepts and principles necessary to create emotional design.

Tentatively titled “Design for Emotion”, the book will explore the application of emotion to the design of objects, websites and interfaces. Rather than waiting until the book is ready to be released, we’re hoping to engage you throughout the writing process to get your feedback and input.

And when we say “input”, we’re not fooling around! You were invited to contribute an example that illustrated emotional design. If we used your example in the book, we’ll be sending you a FREE copy once the book is published (sometime in 2012). In addition, every example that’s submitted will be entered in a draw for an Amazon Kindle (a great device for reading an electronic copy of the book).

In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be updating this blog with more about the book, information on downloading a sample chapter and news on our progress.
